French Wine Regions
Alsace, Champagne, Burgundy & Rohone Valley
Alsace
The magnificent wine-making villages of Alsace are laid out at the foot of the Vosges, crowned with mysterious châteaux.  The famous Alsace Wine Route, which winds from north to south, will reveal … all the splendors of these “terroirs”.

Champagne
The beauty of the hills, the friendliness of the wine growers and the champagne tastings they offer welcome you to the region that is always ready to celebrate.  Visit the vineyards and discover the secret of the bubbles as you breath in the aromas and taste the sparkle.

Burgundy
“Castles rising from vineyards and medieval churches mark the landscape of Burgundy, the land of the good life for those who savor fine cuisine and wine in historic settings.”  Along with its sister region Beaujolais to the south, Burgundy produces some of the best red wines in France.
From Frommer’s France 2007

Rhone Valley
Named after the mighty Rhone river, which rises in the Alps, this region is easily missed as travelers hurry between Paris and the French Riviera.  “The Rhone Valley wine routes enable you to discover … terraced vineyards, steep hillsides, and valleys bathed in sunlight.”
